Marion Cotillard, born September 30, 1975, is a French actress, singer-songwriter, musician and environmentalist. She has won an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, two César Awards, a European Award and a Lumières Award. She became a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2010 and was promoted to Officer in 2016. She was the face of the Lady Dior handbag from 2008 to 2017. In 2020, she became the new face of the Chanel No. 5 perfumes.
Cotillard had his first role in English in the television series Highlander (1993) and made his film debut in The Story of a Boy Who Wanted to Be Kissed (1994). His breakthrough came in the successful French film Taxi (1998), which earned him a César nomination. She transitioned to Hollywood in Tim Burton’s Big Fish (2003), and then appeared in A Very Long Engagement (2004), for which she won her first César Award.
At the end of the 90s, Cotillard was in a relationship with the French actor Julien Rassam. She had a long-term relationship with the French actor Stéphan Guérin-Tillié from 2000 to 2005. They played in the short films A Few Days Too Much (2000) and Heureuse (2001), in the television series Les redoutables 2001 and in the 2005 feature films Cavalcade and Edy. She went out with the French singer Sinclair from 2005 to 2007.
Since October 2007, Cotillard has been in contact with French actor and director Guillaume Canet. They had been friends since 1997 and starred together for the first time years later in the 2003 film Love Me If You Dare. Despite a common misconception, the couple is not married. Although since 2010 Cotillard has been seen wearing a diamond solitaire on his left hand – a gift from Canet – they are not engaged either. In 2014, Cotillard denied being married to Canet, rather referring to him as “my boyfriend” in the interviews. In 2011, they had their first child, a son, and in 2017, their second child, a daughter, was born.
