Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21, 1980, and is also known as Kareena Kapoor Khan, an Indian actress appearing in Hindi films. She is the daughter of actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita and the younger sister of actress Karisma Kapoor. Renowned for playing a variety of characters in a variety of film genres, from romantic comedies to crime series, Kapoor has received several awards, including six Filmfare Awards, and is one of Bollywood’s most popular and best-paid actresses.
Kapoor attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai, followed by Welham Girls School in Dehradun. She attended the institution mainly to satisfy her mother, but later admitted to liking this experience. According to Kapoor, she was not inclined to study but received good grades in all classes except mathematics. After graduating from Welham, she studied business for two years at Mithibai College in Vile Parle (Mumbai). Kapoor then enrolled in a three-month summer computer course at Harvard Summer School in the United States. She later developed an interest in law and enrolled at the Government Law College in Mumbai. During this period, she developed a lasting passion for reading. However, after completing her first year, Kapoor decided to pursue her interest to become an actress. She began training at a theater institute in Mumbai sponsored by Kishore Namit Kapoor, a member of the Indian Institute of Film and Television (FTII).
After making his debut in the 2000 war film Refugee, Kapoor established himself in Hindi cinema with roles in the historical drama Aśoka and the blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (both in 2001). This initial success was followed by a series of commercial failures and repetitive roles, which provoked negative criticism. The year 2004 marked a turning point for Kapoor when she played against gender in the role of sex worker in the Chameli drama. She subsequently received critical recognition for her portrayal of a riot victim in the 2004 Dev drama and a character based on William Shakespeare’s hero Desdemona in the 2006 detective film Omkara. Kapoor received Filmfare Awards for the best actress and best actress support for her performances in the 2007 romantic comedy Jab We Met and the drama 2010 We Are Family, respectively. His most important releases were made with the dramas 3 Idiots (2009) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). and the 2016 detective film, Udta Punjab.
Married to the actor Saif Ali Khan with whom she has a son, Kapoor’s off-screen life is widely covered in India. She is known for her outspokenness and self-assurance, and is known for her contributions to the film industry through her fashion style and roles in film. In addition to film, Kapoor is a theater performer and has contributed as a co-author to three books: an autobiographical memoir and two nutrition guides. She has been working with UNICEF since 2014 to promote girls’ education and improve the quality of education in India. It has also launched its own clothing line in association with the Globus distribution chain.
